Board Member Barry Bruner Retires, Successor Named
At the Availa Bank Board meeting in April, long time Board member Barry Bruner announced his retirement.
Barry joined the Board when Availa Bank merged with their affiliate bank, CS Bank of Fort Dodge and Pocahontas, in December of 2014. He was previously on the Board of Directors at CS Bank, starting in June 1986. Barry is a highly successful attorney in Carroll and a very active supporter of a variety of community causes.
He was also directly involved with the Board search committee that identified and recruited his successor, Jessica Morton.
Jeff Scharfenkamp, President and CEO of Availa Bank, says of Barry’s time on the board, “I am very thankful to Barry for his Board service and his many contributions to the community. I wish him the best.”
Jessica’s appointment to the Board was also approved at the April meeting. She is an attorney with Bruner, Bruner, Reinhart & Morton LLP in Carroll, Iowa.
Jessica is a native of Appleton, Wisconsin and moved to Carroll after obtaining her law degree from the University of Iowa in 2014. She is on the Carroll Area Child Care Center & Preschool Board as well as the President of the Carroll Bar Association. Her first board meeting will be May 20th.
